These terms cover michelrouen.org. Read a page here and you are agreeing to read it as what it is: a catalogue of what Michel Rouen makes, with the figures we hold about each piece printed where you can see them before you decide anything.

Where the sale happens

Nothing is bought on this site. Payment, delivery and returns happen at checkout with our retail partner, not on this site. Their terms, their returns window and their delivery estimate are the ones that count from the moment the button is pressed, and none of them are ours to set or to change.

How to read a price

A figure on a card is what our catalogue held at its last update, and the date of that update is printed on our updates page. Prices move. If the till disagrees with a card here, the till is right and we would rather hear about it than not.

Three size systems on one site

The shirt shelves run on letters, S to 5XL on part of the polo shelf and S to 3XL elsewhere. The trousers run on waist by leg, 30x30 to 42x34, because that is how the pattern is cut. The shorts run on waist alone. The boys' shelf runs on age bands: 6, 8, 10-12, 14-16. A size letter describes the garment, not you: a run printed on a card is the run that piece is made in, and it is never a statement about the body that fits it. Where two cuts disagree, the chart on the buying page is the one to measure against, and how we keep these figures current is set out on how we update the catalogue.

What the UPF figure covers

Most of the knit shirts here carry a UPF figure on the label. That number describes the cloth, not your afternoon. The Skin Cancer Foundation is plain about what changes it: cloth stretched tight over a shoulder lets more through than cloth hanging loose, and cloth that is wet protects less than cloth that is dry. We print the figure the label gives and we do not extend it into advice about skin.

Fabric, stretch and washing

The fibre content and the care instruction on a card are copied from the label. Under the Federal Trade Commission's rules a label states fibre content by generic name and by percentage of weight in descending order, and a maker has to hold reliable evidence for each care instruction it prints. We reproduce what is there and we add nothing to it. Where a card and the label sewn into the garment disagree, the label is the document that governs washing.

What we do not promise

Water-resistant on this site means a face that sheds dew and a passing shower. It is not a rain shell, it is not a waterproof rating, and nothing here is sold as one. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and no piece of clothing is described as preventing anything.
