Editorial Standards
These are the rules the catalogue is written to, set down here so that the rest of the site can get on with describing clothes.
Where the figures come from
Sizes, colourways, prices, fibre content and the UPF figure come from our own catalogue record for each piece. Ratings and review counts are the pools the retail partner holds, and a pool belongs to a whole group of variations rather than to one colour, so the same figure appears under several colourways of one cut.
What a card may claim
A card states what is measurable: the knit, the size run, the number of pockets, the zip, the colourway. It does not say a shirt is the best, the softest or the coolest, because none of those is a figure anyone can check.
Claims about sun, fabric and care
A UPF number is reported as the label gives it and described in the words the Skin Cancer Foundation itself uses for that band. Fibre content and care instructions are reproduced from the label under the Federal Trade Commission's rules. Where a page leans on any of that, the body it leans on is named on the page and our sources are listed on how we update the catalogue. Where a card and the label sewn into the garment disagree about washing, the label wins.
Photographs
A photograph sits under the colourway it shows. Where a picture would misrepresent a colour, the picture is replaced rather than the caption softened.
Ratings
Where a star figure is printed it is printed whole, with the size of the pool behind it. A four-star average over two hundred is a different fact from four stars over four, and both are shown as what they are.
What gets pulled
A piece with no live offer comes off the site at the next rebuild rather than sitting here with a price nobody is honouring. Its record stays in our catalogue, so if it comes back it comes back with it.
