Michel Rouen UPF Golf Shirts

Sixteen cuts across the site carry a UPF figure, most of them 30+ and part of the long sleeve shelf 50+, in a hundred and thirty-two colourways.

  • 15 styles
  • 124 colourways
  • S to 14-16 size run
  • $9.95 to $39.95

Colourways on this page: Black Stripe, Aqua Stripe, Yellow Stripe, Red Stripe, Cobalt Stripe, Pink Blue Stripe, Navy Stripe, Sky Blue Stripe, and 116 more.

A UPF number describes how much ultraviolet a fabric lets through when it is dry and not stretched. The Skin Cancer Foundation puts the bands plainly: the Foundation calls 30 to 49 very good protection and 50+ excellent, and 50 is the floor for its own seal. Sixteen cuts on this site carry such a figure, most of them 30+ and part of the long sleeve shelf 50+, and they are gathered here because the number is the reason somebody looks for them rather than a detail they notice afterwards.

Two things reduce it and both are worth knowing before you spend money on the number. Cloth pulled tight over a shoulder opens its weave and lets more through, which is an argument for the cut being loose rather than close. And wet cloth protects less than dry: the Foundation's own example is a white T-shirt that rates about 7 dry and only 3 soaked. That is not a reason to distrust the figure. It is a reason to read it as what it is: a property of the fabric under standard conditions, not a promise about your afternoon.

Every colourway here is priced on its own. Michel Rouen pieces keeps the figures current and the till is what decides.

Questions about Michel Rouen UPF Golf Shirts

The number on the label, explained

What does UPF 30+ on a Michel Rouen shirt mean for you?

That the dry, unstretched cloth lets less than one thirtieth of ultraviolet through. The Skin Cancer Foundation calls that band very good protection. 50+ is the band the Skin Cancer Foundation calls excellent, and part of our long sleeve shelf is knitted to it.

Does your Michel Rouen UPF shirt still work when it is wet?

It protects less. Wet cloth lets more ultraviolet through than dry cloth does, and the Foundation's own example is a white T-shirt that goes from about 7 to about 3 once it is soaked. The figure on our label describes dry cloth.

Which Michel Rouen shirts carry the highest UPF?

Part of the long sleeve shelf, at 50+. Everything else with a figure is 30+, and where a card carries no figure at all the label did not give one and we do not guess.
